While the music and some of the TV shows may have been memorable, the late 60s were terrible. There were riots, curfews, protests and terrorism (e.g., the Weathermen/Weather Underground). Men coming home from Vietnam were called "baby burners" and spat upon. A couple of good songs won't make up for the real horror of those days. Don't wish you could have been there, be thankful you weren't.

I was born in 76 and one person who commented said that I should be glad because of the turbulence that went on in the 60's, but that is certainly an era that intrigues me, amongst others! Thanks for the comment!

I don't remember anything about the year, as I was born in 1969. It was one of the most eventful years in recent history, both in good and bad sense. The poem is so special for me that I am going to bookmark it. Voted up and awesome.

thank you Sally! The Rolling Stones Jumping Jack Flash made me look up the term "it's a gas." With a little help from the 60's slang dictionary, I was able to piece together a couple of cool phrases that was spoken during an awesome decade!

Sometimes some of us feel like we are misplaced in time. I think I belong to the 1840s. I'd like to go there. If you'd like to go back to the 1960s, I understand that. It's a passion, a longing, maybe. And maybe, next time around, we'll have our wishes come true. :)

My mom was only 10 years old in 69 so I wasn't even thought of at the time! I love history and enjoy learning about other time periods! Incidentally, history was not one of my favorite subjects in school; go figure.

69 grabs my attention because some of my favorite groups were really strong during that time!

Thanks for commenting!

I was born in 1969, and although I grew up in the seventies, I had some exposure to the the late sixties in re-runs on TV and listening to the music on the radio as a child. I agree with you, I'm an old man in a young body as well. Thank you for sharing the insights!
